Profile:
After a profound experience earlier in my life, I became interested in the question ‘What stops us from loving?’ ‘Why do we cause each other and ourselves so much pain?’ I came to the conclusion that it was because we were nursing painful past experiences, often unconsciously, as well as holding on to limiting belief systems, which cut us off from the source of love within us. I became curious about how these wounds can rule our lives and decided to train as a counsellor and later as a psychotherapist at the Chiron Centre for Body Psychotherapy in London. In 2007 I completed a training in Interfaith studies.

In the past I have been involved in facilitating workshops using the creative arts; counselling young people with challenging behaviour; working within a therapeutic community for women who self harm; relationship workshops for children in schools; and mentoring people with an offending history.

My recent work includes one to one work with individuals dealing with a broad range of issues and I also offer professional supervision to individuals and groups.

In addition to using words as a means of communication, I offer an opportunity to use movement and bodywork as well as exploring the arts such as: painting, drawing, clay and sandtray, as metaphor and imagery can often capture the subjective experience better than words.

Part of my practice includes Somatic Trauma Therapy with people who have experienced traumatic events in their lives and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), which has proved to be particularly effective with individuals suffering from post traumatic stress disorder.

I have worked as a volunteer psychotherapist at The Helen Bamber Foundation - an organisation which supports people who have experienced gross human rights violations.  The client group includes women who have been trafficked into the UK for the sex trade, survivors of war and torture.
